This is the last I saw of Gray, sunk in Groton, Connecticut, opposite New London, where we had lived aboard her for eight years.
The end of life at sea
The New London Day reported that Gray sank at a dockside in Groton (the other side of the river from our old New London berth) early on 21 May 1994. The owner was Michael Friedman of Mystic. This picture was taken by William Cussans two years later (photograph courtesy William Cussans).
This was one of the six pin rails that held the running rigging. The pins were made in London from batons for the South African police returned for some reason.
